Towns are unable to set their budgets for 2025, as consolidation measures will also negatively affect local governments, the Union of Slovak Towns (UMS) has warned.
"We expect that outstanding issues regarding the overall structure of consolidation measures will be resolved shortly and that the preparation of the State Budget Act for 2025 will follow. Budgeting in towns will be difficult, the space for governments increasing their own local revenues is limited," remarked UMS head Richard Rybnicek. Therefore, according to him, it will only be possible to draw up budgets in towns and resolve the situation with the help of the state.
