Slovak television received a prestigious award in Lithuania, recognized by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) for its outstanding coverage of the assassination attempt of Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD). The EBU commended STVR’s foreign service for its rapid response and extensive contribution to the EBU News Exchange program.
“This was an extraordinary report, viewed over three million times on digital platforms and accessed by our members three thousand times,” said Emilio San Pedro, director of the EBU News Exchange department. He praised the newsroom’s swift action, noting, “You sent approximately 30 materials for exchange in the following days. The work you did was extraordinary. Speed is of the essence in breaking news.”
This is the first time STVR has received such an award, marking a significant achievement for Slovak journalism.
