Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok (Hlas-SD) will face a no-confidence vote in parliament on Tuesday, November 26, at 4:00 PM. The motion, initiated by opposition MPs from PS, SaS, and KDH criticizes him for issues within the Police Force, police brutality, and failure to address bomb threats at schools. They also accuse him of mishandling investigations and spreading misinformation. Opposition MPs argue that Šutaj Eštok failed to take responsibility for an incident involving the death of a detained individual by a police officer and for police raids marked by misconduct. They claim his poor leadership is leading to the disintegration of the police force, pointing to a high rate of police departures and the closure of the National Criminal Agency. Other reasons for his removal include a settlement between Andrej Babiš and the Ministry of Interior over unauthorized surveillance and mishandling of the investigation into the assassination attempt on Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD), along with the deteriorating security situation.
