Parliament fails to reach quorum on Interior Minister recall

Parliament was for the second time unable to achieve quorum on Tuesday, December 10, for a special session on the proposed recall of Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok (Hlas-SD). Only 58 lawmakers were present. The debate has been postponed to the regular parliamentary session starting February 4. The opposition's recall proposal lists issues such as police misconduct, negligence in addressing bomb threats in schools, and alleged harassment of investigators. They also accuse the Minister of spreading misinformation. Minister Šutaj Eštok dismissed the accusations, asserting his efforts to end "police wars," curb illegal migration, and investigate pandemic management and military aid to Ukraine.
