An amendment to the National Health Information System Act, proposed by the Health Ministry and finally approved by Parliament on Tuesday, aims to modify electronic health services and create new ones.
The ministry explained that the amendment forms part of a data reform that aims to relieve health-care professionals of unnecessary reporting and improve the quality of data while making it more available.
The amendment is set to introduce, for example, electronic processing of laboratory tests to prevent them from being repeated, an electronic patient appointment service via a single central system, and the electronic conclusion of contracts on providing general and specialised gynaecological health care.
In addition, a National Vaccination Register and a National Register of Mental Illness are set to be established.
