"There are points we need to go over with Health Minister Kamil Sasko (Hlas-SD). We know that we have little time, but we have tried to be constructive. I think that we also declared to the gentlemen from the LOZ that some points require more time and discussion and cannot be dealt with under pressure," said Stofko. Nevertheless, according to him, they are trying to come to an agreement in order to ensure everything without the need to declare an emergency situation in the health sector.
LOZ wants to reach an agreement with the Health Ministry and is willing to find a compromise so that hospitals can run normally as of January 1, said LOZ head Peter Visolajsky before the latest talks, criticising the fact that Health Minister Sasko did not attend Tuesday's meeting.
"We're going to sit down, as planned, to discuss those things that come out of the memorandum. These are things that Parliament can approve in December. Those points aren't new, we don't have any new demands," said Visolajsky, adding that LOZ's updated demands are based on the 2022 memorandum between them and the then government. According to Visolajsky, conflict between the government and LOZ exists also because doctors with their demands are "stepping on the toes of financial groups and businessmen in the health-care sector".
Visolajsky also stated that they are doing their best to reach an agreement with the Health Ministry before the Christmas holidays. According to him, the solutions they have proposed are a "precursor" to an agreement. "We've gone over the points, we've discussed some of them and we've found consensus on several things, but it's up to the [health] minister [Kamil Sasko] and the government," said Visolajsky, adding that they have found a compromise on about 50-60 percent of things.
