The entire governing coalition faces issues with the quality of the legislative process, as recent months have seen several bills passed through a fast-tracked procedure, often with unrelated amendments attached, said President Peter Pellegrini. He emphasized his intent to consider the laws more strictly moving forward.
Pellegrini stated that his team carefully examines whether approved legislation aligns with the protection of human rights and the Slovak Constitution. He plans to address the legislative process in his State of the Republic address in Parliament, warning the government and MPs that he will adopt a stricter approach to evaluating laws.
