Polystyrene fire breaks out in Kežmarok

Professional and volunteer firefighters intervened at a polystyrene fire in a reconstructed hall on in Kežmarok, informed Miroslava Knišová from the Regional Directorate of the Fire and Rescue Corps in Prešov. The fire was reported to the operations centre shortly before 8:30 today.

Fifteen members of the Fire and Rescue Corps from the fire stations Kežmarok, Levoča, Poprad and Prešov with six pieces of firefighting equipment and nine members of the volunteer fire brigades from Ľubica and Malý Slavkov with two pieces of equipment have been deployed so far.

“Because of the heavy smoke, the firefighters use self-contained breathing apparatus during the intervention. A control officer and a fire cause investigator are also present at the scene,” Kníšová said.
