Around 15,000 people gathered in Bratislava, with thousands more across Slovakia, to protest government actions they believe undermine the rule of law and Slovakia's EU and NATO commitments, announced Katarina Cibikova of the Peace for Ukraine civic association.
Protest organizers declared a state of civic alert, emphasizing Slovak citizens' responsibility for the nation's future. They pledged to continue peaceful protests to defend democratic values and Slovakia’s pro-Western stance.
The protestors urged Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) to uphold the law, respect institutions, ensure transparent governance, reject ties with Russia, cease verbal attacks on Ukraine, and maintain Slovakia’s current foreign policy orientation.
