Better, smaller, cheaper: New hydrogen sensor nearing production

Better, smaller, cheaper: New hydrogen sensor nearing production

Hydrogen is often touted as the fuel of the future, with a growing number of applications. But, given hydrogen's volatility, when employing this super-fuel in industry or transport, safety is paramount. Hydrogen sensors are the first step in making sure this highly flammable gas doesn't pose a hazard, but such sensors have always been big, bulky, and expensive. This looks poised to change soon, however, thanks to the work underway by Associate Professor Tomáš Plecenik's team at Bratislava's Comenius University. Could this be a made-in-Slovakia commercial game changer? Gavin Shoebridge visited the labs to find out.
