Meet the children’s folk group Tancovadlo from Piešťany. While Slovak folk traditions may seem distant not only to foreigners but also to the youngest generation of Slovaks these days, it is not true for the kids in the group.
"It is crucial to choose carefully the kind of material one wants to
teach the kids. It all needs to start with something they enjoy doing,
something that attracts them. That’s the task of the instructor - to
capture the kids’ attention first and make them enjoy what they are
learning," says Alfred Lincke, an ethnologist, dancer and dance instructor, who has been leading the group for more than 7 years now. While doing so, he decided to try something different than is usually done with children’s folk ensembles.

According to Alfred Lincke, children’s folk games are very good for the start, something where they jump, play and laugh.
