The Interior Ministry will step up its efforts to combat human trafficking in the autumn, also to mark the International Day Against Sexual Exploitation and Human Trafficking of Women and Children, observed on September 23, and the European Anti-trafficking Day on October 18. The ministry will embrace several awareness-raising measures, such as organising lectures and promoting the anti-trafficking hotline number 0800 800 818. "Since 2013, we have recorded more than 9,000 calls to the hotline," added the ministry. In 2020, a total of 62 human trafficking victims were identified, with every fourth being a child. The criminal schemes mostly involved labour and sexual exploitation.
