Bratislava-based international restaurants in times of pandemic

Bratislava-based international restaurants in times of pandemic

Moving to a new country is never easy. A new language, new people, a new environment. But can you imagine moving to a foreign country and establishing a restaurant there? Well, that probably requires a lot of courage and the will to overcome any possible challenges. Not to mention if one of these challenges is a global pandemic.

In the following feature, you will hear three different stories of three different men from three different countries who found the courage, came to Slovakia and opened their restaurants there. And since many of our listeners are from India, let's start with oriental Indian cuisine.

Concludes Ashish Baid who opened the Indian restaurant Veda in Bratislava two years ago, right before the pandemic started.

My second respondent is Frederic Mickiewicz who opened a creperie in a Bratislava few years ago and then decided to put his petite restaurant on wheels. Now he has a small food truck and you can often see him at various music or food festivals. So how did always optimistic Frederic manage to survive the two waves of the pandemic and what are his plans for the third one?

That was Frederic Mickiewicz from France who has his small creperie on wheels in Bratislava. You can meet him at many outdoor events and festivals that take place in the capital of Slovakia, so when you smell warm crepes with salted caramel in the air, follow the smell and it will probably lead you to his nice, green and yellow Vespa food truck.

My last respondent is Andrea Ena from Italy. Andrea has lived in Slovakia for 18 years already and over that time, he made quite a career not only with his Italian restaurants but also on the TV screen. Nevertheless, my first question was: Why Slovakia?
