On 21st February 2018, Slovak investigative journalist Jan Kuciak was murdered along with his fiancée Martina Kusnirova in their own house. On the occasion of the recent World Radio Day, 13 February, European Broadcasting Union suggested that radio broadcasters “invest in fact-checking, investigative journalism and rigorous verification of sources and content” so as to strengthen the retaining of audience trust.
