Slovakia will spend the season 2013/2014 in the C group of the Men’s Water Polo World League. They will compete against Italy, Germany and Montenegro for a place in the final tournament.
Pavol Sirotny, team’s head coach explains: “It's a very prestigious competition, from which we can qualify for the World Championships or the Olympic Games. First of all we perceive it as an opportunity to play matches against the elite teams in this sport. That’s very important to us because we haven’t managed to qualify for the European Championships and thus lacked the experience of playing against such teams. Our new team members have never played against a top team. The Montenegrins and Italians are the favourites of our group but we will strive for the best results. I also believe that participation in the World League will increase the fan base for this sport in Slovakia.”
Slovaks will play their first match in this competition in mid November.
