Four amateur swimmers from southern Slovakia became the first in the world to cross the extremely demanding North Channel between Northern Ireland and Scotland. During the 82-km swim, which took them 24 hours, 55 minutes and 40 seconds they managed to fight off both cold water and dangerous jellyfish. "No one has ever swam it like a four-man relay. So far, six-member relays have been swimming the Channel back and forth," said one of the swimmers, Richard Nyáry. The water had barely reached 12 degrees Celsius, and the four men swam in regular swimsuits, goggles and swimming caps. Their names will go into the Guinness Book of Records.
