The Slovak Olympic team won altogether four medals at the Tokyo Olympics - the same number of medals as in Rio de Janeiro five years ago. This time, however, the team was composed of only 41 athletes (In Rio de Janeiro, Slovakia was represented by 51 athletes). The only gold medal was won by the trapperist Zuzana Rehák Štefečeková. Golfer Rory Sabbatini and kayaker Jakub Grigar won silver medals and four-kayak team composed of Samuel Baláž, Denis Myšák, Erik Vlček, Adam Botek won a bronze medal.
"It was a successful performance. Four medals are a good business card, on the other hand we had higher expectations from some athletes," head of the Slovak team in Tokyo Roman Buček said for the TASR press agency.
