On Saturday, August 16th, the second Summer Youth Olympics will start in Nanjing China and Slovakia will be represented by 37 athletes competing in women’s football, tennis, gymnastics, athletics, archery, boxing, swimming, sailing, shooting, kayak-canoe and cycling.
The leader of the delegation is the multiple Olympic medallist in shooting Jozef Gönci.
“I expect 2-3 medals because this is a group of talented young people, some of them such as swimmer Barbora Mišendová and kayaker Jakub Grigar already holding Junior European and world titles . For others this is their first major competition and it will definitely be an important experience because they will see what to expect when they will compete in the future as seniors.”
