Every Friday our Musical Crossroads series offers listeners the chance to discover unique Slovak music and bands. This week we focus on one singer and songwriter in particular from Považská Bystrica, a town in northwestern Slovakia. Her name is Mirka Miškechová and she's quickly rising through the musical ranks, already performing in a highly successful duet with the popular Czech singer Xindl X.
She's just finished touring Slovakia, promoting her 2014 contemporary folk-styled debut album Schizofrenik / Optimista (Schizophrenic / Optimist) but she's already preparing album number two. Radio Slovakia International's Gavin Shoebridge takes a closer look at her music, including an interview with the singer on a noisy street in Banská Štiavnica.
