The young Slovak opera singer Boris Prýgl has been awarded the Birgit Nilsson Prize at the Plácido Domingo Operalia Competition for his extraordinary interpretation of the works of Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss. The competition took place in Astana, Kazakhstan with its focus being on young singers under the age of 32. This just 24-year-old fresh alumnus of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, Boris Prýgl was also personally invited by Plácido Domingo to perform at the Los Angeles Opera during the 2018/2019 season.
