The painting of the year 2017 is Over the mountain by Žofia Dubová. The 4 member international jury agreed on her unique landscape as the most outstanding out of 118 entries to the VUB foundation award for young artists. The chairwoman of the jury, the British curator of contemporary art Jane Neal appreciated, among others, Žofia Dubová's innovative approach to being a painter. After she finishes painting a fragment of the landscape, this artist opens the canvas and continues painting new stories on its edges. It is possible to see her unique style as well as the works of the second and the third runners-up - Marta Kissová and Hana Garová respectively, in the Bratislava based Galéria Nedbalka until the 11th November.
