The Environment Ministry has allocated €7 million for the removal of illegal dumping sites. Just like in 2015, this year there has been a lot of interest in this funding. Almost 500 municipalities have filed applications for it. To this date, the ministry has registered approximately 2,500 illegal dumping sites; however, there might be another 7,000 sites which are not registered. 95% of the removal costs will be funded by the state, with the towns and villages to pay the rest. The dumping sites should be removed by the end of November this year.
