Slovakia likely to see investments worth €1.8 billion

New foreign investments worth €1.8 billion which could create 25,500 new jobs are likely to come to Slovakia within the next two years, the Vice-premier for Investments and Informatisation Peter Pellegrini (Smer-SD) said on TA3's discussion programme 'V politike' (In Politics) on Sunday. As Pellegrini said, this total includes "some 24 investment projects expected to create around 5,500 jobs alone for the twelve least developed regions this year." Eugen Jurzyca of the opposition Freedom and Solidarity party criticized the government saying that the number of people living in Slovakia has dropped by 300,000 over the past 15 years. The Vice-premier responded that a great number of people are also coming here, not only from countries less developed than Slovakia, but there are also a large number of young Italians with university degrees, for example.
