Average nominal salary in Slovakia stood at €912 per month in 2016

The average nominal monthly salary for the whole of 2016 increased by 3.3 percent year-on-year to reach €912, the Slovak Statistics Office announced on Tuesday. The growth in nominal salaries in 2016 was 0.4 percentage points higher than in 2015. Real salaries posted a year-on-year increase of 3.8 percent. The highest average monthly salaries in the final quarter of last year were paid in IT (€1,892), in finance and insurance (€1,769) and in electricity, gas and steam supplies (€1,712). The lowest average nominal salaries were found in accommodation and food services (€613) and in construction (€689). The average nominal monthly salary in 4Q16 was higher than the national average only in Bratislava region (€1,235). In other regions it ranged from €798 in Prešov region to €922 in Trenčín region.
