Foreigners from countries outside the EU will probably be enabled to get seasonal jobs even without having a temporary stay visa in Slovakia, according to a bill presented in Parliament by Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák on Wednesday. At the moment, foreigners from the so-called third countries can work in Slovakia only if they have received a temporary stay permit. The new rules will introduce two phases. The first one involves the possibility of staying a maximum of 90 days in Slovakia based on their Schengen visa and working permit. In the second phase, foreigners will be able to extend their stay if they ask for a temporary stay for the purposes of seasonal employment, which may not exceed 180 days, however. Their temporary stay application will thus be assessed under a single permit.
