The use of plastic bags should drop, as Parliament has approved an amendment to the law on waste to this effect. In line with the new amendment, shops will be banned from giving plastic bags to their customers for free, and they will also be obliged to keep records of them as of 2019. According to an organisation called Envi-pak, each Slovak has a consumption of 466 plastic bags per year, while the EU average stands at 200.
