Slovak coproduction successful in NY

Ice Mother (Bába z ledu) - the film by Czech director Bohdan Sláma in Slovak co-production recorded a great success at the TRIBECA film festival in New York. The story of a 60-year-old woman who becomes an ice swimmer was granted the Best Screenplay in an International Narrative Feature Film award. "With warmth and humor, this movie leads us into a specific and eccentric world driven by an unlikely love story," reads the jury's comment. The director was handed the prize by Alessandro Nivola and Willem Dafoe. The leading character was played by Slovak actress Zuzana Kronerová.
