Russian observation aircraft to fly over Slovakia

Between Monday May 29th and Wednesday May 31st, a Russian army aircraft without any munition will fly over Slovak territory during an observation flight. This action is in accordance with the international agreement on open air from 2002. It is one of the instruments used to control conventional armed forces and military activities signed by 34 states, said Danka Capáková, spokesperson of the Slovak Defence Ministry for TASR, adding that Russia uses this right once a year. At the same time, Slovakia and Poland will perform the same type of flight over Ukraine. A country planning an observation flight has to announce it at least 72 hours beforehand and its route has to be agreed by both sides 24 hours in advance.
