As many as 19 people were killed in road accidents between the beginning of the summer holiday on July 1 and Wednesday, reported the Pravda daily on Thursday, representing an increase from 17 deaths over the same period of last year. In order to respond to the developments, the police corps are sending more officers to the streets along with measures aimed at stepping up road checks. Transport analyst Ján Bazovský said that the failure of drivers to pay full attention is the most frequent cause of accidents in summer.
