3.23 percent of Slovaks reliant on state welfare

The number of people reliant on social benefits in Slovakia fell by around 20,000 on a yearly basis and by approximately 1,300 on the month to some 80,000 in October, according to statistics released by the Labour, Social Affairs and the Family Centre (ÚPSVaR) on Tuesday. When also other family members dependent on state welfare were included, the overall figure stood at around 175,000 people, representing 3.23 percent of Slovakia's population. The highest figures of people included in state social assistance programmes were recorded in the districts of Rimavská Sobota, Revúca, Gelnica and Rožňava.
