Developments in Syria, the situation in North Korea, and the future of Western Balkan countries were the key topics of an informal meeting of EU Ministers of Foreign Affairs in the Bulgarian capital Sofia. "A political solution to the situation in Syria needs to be found in Geneva," Foreign Ministry State Secretary Ivan Korčok said on Thursday, stressing that the military actions of regional players have the potential to seriously jeopardise dialogue and the prospect of a political solution. The meeting of EU diplomacy leaders takes place just a week after the EU presented its strategy for the integration of the Western Balkans region. "If we do not engage more intensely in this area, other players will do it for us," said Korčok.
