Defence Ministry rejects accusation of corruption

Alleged bribes for businessmen close to the Slovak National Party (SNS), relating to the upcoming purchase of armoured vehicles based on the Finnish armoured vehicle Patria, was the latest accusation of the Defence Ministry by the opposition MP Milan Krajniak (We Are Family). Krajniak talked about alleged bribes in the amount of 20 percent of the contract price to a Finnish investigative journalist who visited Bratislava. According to the Minister of Defence Peter Gajdoš, it is all lies and made-up accusations. He urged Krajniak to bring evidence by Friday (May 11).

Krajniak did not reveal his source of the information. He only specified that his sources are supposed to be from the companies which had an interest in the arms contracts and were offered commission on the deal, but most of them refused. "We refuse any allegations that might connect the Slovak National Party (SNS) to the business," Gajdoš stated, explaining that it is not clear yet, who will be the subcontractors involved in the manufacture of transporters.
