EU-harmonised inflation in Slovakia stood at 2.9 percent year-on-year in August, according to the Slovak Statistics Office. The EU-harmonised inflation rate is an index of consumer prices calculated according to a methodology which is harmonised for all EU countries. In Slovakia, higher prices in transport and postal services and telecommunications in August contributed the most to inflation. Conversely, those for recreation, culture, clothing and footwear went down in this period.
