Slovakia is not interested in cheap labour force

The Slovak government is not interested in importing cheap labour from abroad. At Thursday's meeting with journalists, Labour Minister Ján Richter highlighted this after the Cabinet approved midweek the strategy for the labour mobility of foreigners in Slovakia. The arrival of workers from countries outside the European Union should not be at the expense of the unemployed in Slovakia. "It is a short-track procedure for employing workers in positions with a lower response from qualified workers and only in regions where the unemployment rate is less than 5%," explained Richter, adding that more than 65% of Slovak regions are affected. The Minister summed up that the main goal of the strategy remained the regulation of the labour mobility of foreigners from countries outside of the EU.
