Vice-premier for Investments and Informatisation Richard Raši of the Smer-SD pary said on Sunday that he did not plan to run for president in next year's presidential election. Thus, the largest governing party is still without a candidate, even though its chair Robert Fico said it would announce the name in September. According to Raši, the best candidate for the post is the Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák. He has, however, repeatedly refused to run. Raši hopes that the Smer-SD party will manage to persuade Lajčák in the end.
