Kiska in Rome: EU Is Solution for Every Issue

Slovak President Andrej Kiska met with his Italian counterpart Sergio Mattarella in Rome on Thursday. High on the agenda of their meeting were the topics of Euroscepticism, the 2019 elections to the European Parliament, migration as well as relations between Slovakia and Italy. "The European Union certainly is not the problem - the EU is a solution for every single problem," Kiska said, adding that big problems, including migration, terrorism, climate change, but also economic growth, can only be dealt with together. The Slovak president described Slovak-Italian relations as excellent, highlighting the growing mutual trade and the recent visit of Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini to Rome. He added that more than 500 Italian companies have invested in Slovakia, leading to the creation of more than 40,000 jobs.
