OSCE and OECD presidencies opportunity for Slovak diplomacy

The head of Slovak diplomacy, Miroslav Lajčák, is convinced that a country like Slovakia must have a competent and high-quality diplomatic service. "And that quality can only be achieved when our diplomats face current challenges in the international environment," said Lajčák in an interview with the TASR news agency. He added that Slovakia has more diplomats abroad serving in high-profile posts than, for instance, the Czech Republic or Poland. "In foreign policy and diplomacy Slovakia has been punching above its weight," he added. The foreign affairs minister also said that Slovakia has all the conditions for a successful one-year presidency of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). "Slovakia is a state that has no bad relations with any country in the world," he said, noting that not every country can say this and it's not something that can be taken for granted. According to him, both the Presidency of the OSCE and that of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Ministerial Council are opportunities for Slovakia to make itself visible.
