Slovak wins biathlon sprint at World Cup

On Thursday, the Slovak athlete Anastasyia Kuzmina topped the World Cup podium after the women sprint in Ruhpolding, Germany. It was her first victory and first podium in the place where she started her biathlon career in her second race as a professional athlete in 2006. Despite minor adjustments to her rifle ahead of the race on Thursday, Kuzmina shot clean and thanks to her fast run she came first ahead of the Italian Lisa Vittozi and the Swedish Hanna Öberg. Slovak Paulína Fialková, who places currently second in the World Cup, came 14th with one missed shot.
