The Cabinet at its away session in Levoča, north eastern Slovakia, approved the action plan of this district, ranked as the least developed in the country. Its main objective is to reduce the registered unemployment rate in Levoča by supporting the creation of more than 515 jobs by 2023. This region has the highest number of Roma inhabitants. At a news conference dedicated to evaluating implemented projects and activities prepared for 2019, the Government Proxy for Roma Communities Abel Ravasz said that in the modern history of Slovakia the government had rarely taken the initiative in adopting plans to increase the employment of people from marginalised groups. "It will already be implemented in 2019 … We can already see a record-high employment rate of marginalised groups, but we want to achieve an even better improvement with these measures," stated Ravasz. He also stressed the importance of ensuring the sustainability of the so-called auxiliary professions, such as field social workers, community centre employees and school assistants.
