Patient dies following erroneous blood transfusion

The University Hospital of Louis Pasteur (UNLP) in Košice has sacked three employees following the death of a patient caused by a transfusion error. According to reports, a 51-year-old man underwent a transfusion at a surgical clinic in March when he was given incompatible blood. The patient died a month later. Health Minister Andrea Kalavská (a Smer-SD nominee) will hold a personal meeting with the general manager of the hospital. The hospital has confirmed that the misconduct was committed by its staff.
