Social partners fail to agree on the minimum wage hike

The social partners did not come to an agreement on a minimum wage hike at an Economic and Social Council session on Monday. The Labour Ministry originally proposed to raise the minimum wage from the current €520 to €580 per month, while the Slovak Trade Union Confederation (KOZ) demanded that it should be increased to €635 and representatives of employers proposed boosting it by €32.20 to €552.20. The tripartite will continue to discuss the ministry's proposal until it presents the definitive version. Should the tripartite fail to agree by the end of August on how the hike presented by the ministry should be adjusted, the ministry will present the Government's proposal at an Economic and Social Council session in September.
