European labour headquarters ready to open in Bratislava

The headquarters of the new European Labour Agency is more or less ready for opening and the start of its operation in the Slovak capital, Slovak Social Affairs and Family Minister Ján Richter (Smer-SD) said after visiting the agency's new premises at Landererova street in Bratislava on Tuesday. The ELA was established only this year, in response to the fact that 17 million EU citizens currently live and work in other EU countries. The organisation is expected to achieve its full capacity by 2024. Public contests are currently being held for individual posts at the agency, with the total number of its employees to reach 144 within a few years. Among other things, the ELA will act as a mediator in the event of cross-border disputes between national bodies.
