At the weekend, Police took action against several persons after clashes between supporters and opponents of the far-right People's Party Our Slovakia at the party's gathering which took place last Friday in the western Slovak city of Trnava. As the Trnava region police reported on its social media profile, they confronted persons from both sides, irrespective of their sympathies and opinions. The police registered four offences of damaging someone else's property while one person was injured. The crowd of the party's opponents was whistling, shouting and drumming throughout the whole event. Their banners read, among other things, 'Stop fascism', 'We don't want Nazis here' and 'We don't talk to Nazis in Trnava'. Last year, Supreme Court dismissed a proposal to dissolve the People's Party Our Slovakia, stating that the lawsuit formulated by the General Prosecutor's Office was not sufficiently founded to prove that the party is an immediate threat to democratic society.
