Altogether 266 members of the rescue services who actively helped in the most tragic events of the past year in Slovakia, received awards on Wednesday. In her speech at the ceremony, the Interior minister Denisa Saková said she hopes 2020 will be more merciful to all Slovaks in terms of the number of tragedies. Last year, a series of tragedies hit Slovakia, such as the gas explosion in Prešov or the bus crash near Nitra. Slovak rescue services also helped with the tourist boat crash in Budapest, and joined the rescue action in a cave in the Polish Tatra Mountains.
