Gas transmission volume with Hungary to increase

Slovak Economy Minister Peter Žiga and Hungarian Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Péter Szijjártó agreed on the intention to expand the capacity of the pipeline connecting Slovakia and Hungary. They signed a memorandum saying that the two countries will increase the volume of transmitted gas between Slovakia and Hungary to 5.3 billion cubic metres of gas both ways per year. The current capacity of the pipeline is 4.5 billion cubic metres when it comes to transmitting gas from Slovakia to Hungary and 1.8 billion cubic metres the other way. At the same time, excess gas from Hungary's southern networks will be directed to existing infrastructure in Slovakia.

The pipeline between the countries has been in use since 2015. Both ministers stressed that there have never been as many mutual projects in energy, gas and oil infrastructure before.
