Gov't approves Environment Impact Assessment Act

The economic and social situation in the districts of Galanta and Dunajska Streda (both Trnava region), as well as draft amendments to several laws were high on the agenda of the government's away-from-home session held in Galanta on Wednesday.

The amendment to the Environmental Impact Assessment Act passed at Wednesday’s session should simplify and speed up the assessment process by linking it to the permitting process for construction and operations subject to impact assessment.

Within the evaluation of social-economic situation and selected problems in the districts of Galanta and Dunajska Streda, the government approved almost €2 million for projects in towns and villages in the two districts.

In line with the last week's announcement, the Cabinet also dealt with several legislative proposals and amendments to several laws, including the law on public procurement.

Changes in the law on foreigners' stay are intended to make the use of the so-called blue cards (for highly qualified employees from abroad) more attractive on the labour market.

Further amendments to be discussed at the government session include changes to the Labour Code, the law on the social protection of children and the social guardianship.
