Slovak Prime Minister is against EU Corporate Income Taxes

Prime Minister Robert Fico made no secret of his scepticism about the proposed plans for a better economic future for the EU following an extraordinary two-day summit of the European Union in Brussels on Thursday evening. In his view, the proposals for the harmonisation of corporate taxes were impassable for Slovakia. "Taxes are a national power. … I appreciate that the Visegrad Four [V4] countries [the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia] and others were of the same mind on this and rejected it," he explained. However, Slovak Prime Minister agreed with proposals for harmonisation at the EU level as it regards to the resolution of bankruptcies of insolvent firms.
