Earthquakes in Slovakia

At the beginning of October 2023, otherwise seismically inactive Slovakia was struck by an earthquake. In an article for portal Aktuality.sk, seismologists from the Comenius University in Bratislava and the Slovak Academy of Sciences state, that there were possibly earthquakes in eastern Slovakia in the past too. These experts also mention that in the 20th century, there were over 300 earthquakes with macro-seismic effects in this area. However, the last one of similar intensity was in 1906 in western part of the country. Our colleague Patrícia Arpášová has more.
