There are thirteen "trees of freedom" planted in such countries as Russia, Poland, Austria, the United States, Germany, Serbia, and since early December of 2019, one has also been planted at Brookwood cemetery, the final resting place of many Czech and Slovak soldiers. Slovak landscape architect Marek Sobola planted it there with the Slovak president Zuzana Čaputová on 4th December 2019. "There is a lot we can learn from the stories of people buried here. It is ever more crucial to remind ourselves of the bravery, sacrifice and unusual acts of dedication these people showed," said Zuzana Čaputová at the ceremony in Brookwood.
