The Ethnographic Society of Slovakia was accredited as a consultant for the UNESCO intergovernmental committee for the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage. This was decided upon by the committee members at its 12th assembly on the South Korean island of Jeju. One of the advantages of the accredited NGOs is the possibility to be voted in as a member of the Evaluation committee that suggests items for the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage list.
